How to land the electric
The Electric Wind God Fist (EWGF) is the Mishima signature: a rising uppercut wrapped in lightning. It's also a just-frame move, so the button has to land on the exact frame the lever reaches down-forward.
The input, step by step
- Forward (f): tap the lever toward your opponent.
- Neutral (n): let it return to centre. This step is easy to skip by accident, and skipping it breaks the move.
- Down (d): pull straight down.
- Down-forward + 2 (df+2): roll into down-forward and press right punch on the same frame.
If 2 arrives even one frame after down-forward, you get the regular Wind God Fist: same animation, no lightning, and less reward on hit.
How to practise it
- Turn on input display in training mode so you can see each direction and when 2 landed.
- Learn the motion first. Do f, n, d, df slowly with no button until it's clean every time.
- Think of df+2 as one action. Rather than "move, then press", aim to make the lever reach the corner and your finger hit 2 as a single movement.
- Use the gate. On a square gate, the down-forward corner is a solid stop you can feel, which makes it a reliable target.
- Practise both sides. Facing left mirrors the motion, and most players find one side much harder at first.
Common mistakes
| What happens | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Regular WGF, no lightning | 2 pressed a frame or more late | Press 2 as the lever lands, not after |
| A different move comes out | Missed neutral, or went past df to f | Let the lever fully return to centre; stop in the corner |
| Character crouches | Held down too long before df | Make d to df one quick roll |
| Inconsistent on one side | Wrist angle changes when mirrored | Drill the weaker side separately |

Our Input Lab measures your timing with your keyboard or an on-screen pad, and tells you how many frames late you were when you miss. It's a good way to feel the rhythm before you pick up a stick.
The lever you choose affects the motion too. A stiffer lever snaps back to neutral, while a lighter one is quicker to roll. See Sanwa JLF vs Seimitsu LS-32, or start with the complete fight stick guide.
Built for the electric. Pick a Sanwa-style or Korean Crown lever, or go leverless with a hitbox, wired for the console you play on.
